Jill Kalliomaa‍ ‍

Jill created Monarch Beach Well-Being, LLC as a way to use her unique background to offer custom well-being services to organizations and individuals. Jill’s interests and expertise focus on the topics of mindfulness, music and finding moments of peace, quiet and focus throughout the day. Her experience includes:

Legal Counsel: Jill has more than 30 years of experience as legal counsel in a variety of industries, which helps her understand the well-being challenges faced by in-house attorneys and other professionals.

Musician: Jill has a lifelong interest in music, learning the flute and piano at an early age and continuing to create and enjoy music over the years. She is learning the guitar and participates as a flutist with the Saddleback College Wind Ensemble.

Well-Being and Mindfulness Advocate: Jill received Mindfulness in Law Teacher Training, completed the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) Program, and has attended numerous meditation retreats.

Leader: Jill is a leader in the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), an international organization for in-house legal counsel, serving on the Southern California Board of Directors from 2015 to 2021 and is continuing as an active member with a focus on well-being initiatives.

In 2019, Jill co-created the Chapter’s Attorney Well-Being Committee and has remained a leader in this area since then, organizing events and speaking at in person events and via virtual webinars. The committee, which provides activities, information, resources and support focused on managing stress, increasing resilience and creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, received the Innovative Programming Effort Chapter Achievement Award from ACC in 2021.

On a national level, Jill serves as a member of the ACC Global wellness advisory committee, has spoken at numerous ACC Annual Meetings in Las Vegas, San Antonio and Nashville, and has authored articles on well-being topics for the ACC Docket publication. In 2024 she co-presented at the Annual Meeting in Nashville on the topic of “Mindfully Managing Your Day with Music” one of the most novel and highly regarded CLE (continuing legal education) sessions at the conference. 

Education: Jill attended the University of Arizona for both her Juris Doctor and her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, where she graduated cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. She continues to pursue music classes at Saddleback Community College.

CocoJo

CocoJo is a petite Papillon has added joy to the lives of Jill and her husband, within a short span of time beginning in 2021, following the unexpected passing of Jill’s father and their beloved Australian Cattle dog, Max.

Papillonis French for butterfly, and CocoJo is a lovely little butterfly, full of sweetness and light. CocoJo’s mission is to share her happy spirit with as many people as possible.

CocoJo loves everyone but has a special place in her heart for children, students and our beloved seniors living in assisted living and memory care, where she visits often to share her special kind of joy.

CocoJo is the star of “CocoJo’s Joyful World” custom greeting cards created by Jill, distributed to local businesses in Dana Point and used in various programs.
